Washer Left, Dryer Right? Plan the Doors Before Installation

Front-load laundry layout matters because some washer doors are not reversible. Check hinge directions before final installation.

Door swing can make laundry awkward

A common side-by-side layout places the washer and dryer so their doors open away from the space between the machines. That makes transferring clothes easier, but the correct arrangement depends on the actual hinge direction and whether each door can be reversed.

Check before moving heavy machines

Consult the installation manual for both models. Some dryers support door reversal while many washers have a fixed hinge. Confirm hoses, venting, electrical clearances and door swing together before deciding the final positions.

Safety note: Appliance symptoms can have more than one cause. Disconnect power (and the water supply on washers) when manufacturer instructions require it. Do not remove panels or perform electrical work outside your training.
